Police investigating Threats
Against Halifax West High School
At approximately 12:25 p.m. police were notified of a threat received by Halifax West High School, located at 283 Thomas Raddall Drive. School administrators reported receiving a call from a man who said he was on school property with a weapon. The school went into lockdown, and the incident was reported to police.
There was a heavy police presence at Halifax West High School in response to threats that were received by the school over lunch hour.
Police are asking members of the public to avoid the area as they continue their investigation.
According to a release from HRP they were notified at approximately 12:25 p.m. of a threat at the high school.
They say students and staff were outside of the building at the time the threats were received, and have since been directed away to a safe gathering point.
Police completed a search of the school and found no evidence to support the threat. The school lifted the lockdown at 3:45 p.m.
Police thank staff, students and the community for their patience and cooperation during the search. While police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the school, officers will continue to have a presence there to offer reassurance to students, staff and families.
